According to Adams, Loan did just what any other person would have done. After the tet offensive in which hundreds of Americans died, Loan caught one person. In the heat of the moment he did what any person would have done. He took out all of his frustrations out on the man, and unfortunately he had the available resources to take the mans life. At the time Adams had no problem taking the picture but he said later he regretted taking it because it ruined a mans life because all you see is a man executing a prisoner but you have no idea what happened before that which could have instigated it.
Those protesting the war would say that this war should be stopped because relatively innocent people are killed. Anyone who doesn't know the history of this picture would assume that the man about to be executed did nothing wrong and is simply a person living in the town.
The US would make the case that America is doing everything it can to defeat a hostile enemy and that they are making progress. They would also make the argument that it's not only US soldiers fighting in this war, but also there are vietnamese people helping us out.
Eddie Adams would say Loan is a hero. This man is siding with the United States and killing a man who has just killed however many United States soldiers.
Loan only thinks one thing when he sees this picture and that is revenge. Im sure he still got angry even after the picture was published whenever he sees the picture.
The wife probably thinks her husband is a martyr. Her husband was standing there beaten and defenseless and was brutally executed. She is probably extremely disgusted by the images. A publisher trying to decide whether to post this or not probably had a field day with this picture. He wouldn't think twice about posting it because first off it's not an american holding the gun. Also because still photos are only half truths this picture allows people to interpret it in many different ways and therefore would have an effect on the broadest range of people.

Pro Ana Websites should definitely be banned or at least should require a username to view. One could make a very strong case for the fact that these websites encourage eating disorders, and only promote a false sense of skinniness which lowers young girls' as well as older women's self esteem. These websites provide a way for women to share their success of weightloss and how it has helped better their lives. This only makes other readers have lowered self esteem because alot of them feel as though they cant achieve that same type of success.
On the other side of this argument these websites should be allowed to remain active because they give women who had success in losing weight a way to get their story out there. If done correctly, these women can offer positive advice to younger girls who are looking for a healthy way of losing weight. It also gives the women who succeeded a way to be proud of themselves and a place to let them brag about their own accomplishments.

HAHAHAHA upon reading this article I could not stop laughing. I did not know if the author was being serious or not. The points she makes really do seem to make sense. Running is all about the experience, jogging is more about the exercise, at least to me. The physical pictures and images didn't do very much for me. On the other hand the images I came up with in my head as I was reading this were very clear. I imagine this guy in his sweats jogging down the street with his dog casually waving to his neighbors as he passes. Then i get that image of the guy running down the beach at like 6 in the morning just listening to the waves crash as the tide comes right up next where he is running but doesnt ever reach him.
I personally do not run, or jog for that matter. With that being said I didn't take offense to the argument that most joggers are wanna be runners and that joggers should just admit that they are just joggers. I can totally image how it would feel to be a runner and have a jogger pose as a runner.
Well the fact of the matter is that these ads weren't created to discourage people from calling themselves runners, but to sell shoes. I feel like this ad would effectively sell shoes, especially if I considered myself a runner or was someone like myself and wanted to become a runner and not a jogger.
I think Pearl Izumi did an interesting thing by separating runners from joggers in that by targeting runners for her product she limited the number of people who would actually buy her shoes. If i was a jogger I wouldn't want to buy her product. At the same time she probably increased her sale of shoes to runners because she showed the runners that "Hey I understand what you guys go through and therefore I have made a shoe to meet your demands and your demands specifically".
If i had to choose an ad to run I would run the Izumi ad. The Pathos in the second argument isn't something anyone wants to think of. No matter what you're selling a picture of a guy who is throwing up isn't going to induce me to buy anything. In fact it would probably make me want to buy less of it with the thought that I too may throw up if I buy the product.

The website is very neatly organized into what could almost be quadrants. Everything is separated into its own little space so there is no confusion as to what goes with what. There are plenty of pictures on the home page with very minimal information. One thing that stands out to me is that They made sure to include a woman in non combat gear, as if to promote the idea that women can join the army and not have to serve on the front line. Another image is the picture of the decorated black guy, to promote the diversity that exists. When you dive deeper into the site there is a page that shows all the distinctions different soldiers have earned. They each have their picture so you can see that they are all down to earth real people. Next to each one of them is an inspiring quote like "i will never quit" or "i will never surrender" which induces a sense of pride in these guys. This site is definitely geared more towards younger generations and the game makes a definite play at young teenagers and guys who are around 18 who would possibly enlist.
I think this game falsely indoctrinates the war. After playing this game you begin to get the sense that war is just a big game. That once you die you just wait a little while and you come back to life. Also you get the sense that on any given round either side can win. This is completely false. War is not just running down a street shooting everyone you see and then coming back to life after your killed. Although the media portrays war to be more like the video game. you never see on the news a bunch of guys sitting around on a base doing nothing...and the video game doesnt show this either.
I dont feel like this game or any other game promotes violence i feel like video games are a way for teens to release their violence and aggression in a manner other than being violent. What is better, a kid who goes to school angry and fights another kid at school, or a kid who is mad and plays a video game which allows him to beat up people, and then goes to school happy? Personally I feel like people want to use video games as a scape goat for kids actions when its the parents who should play a bigger part in their kids actions. If you dont want a kid to be aggressive let the kid play sports. If you dont want your kid to get hurt get him a video game. But dont blame a game for teaching your kid how to be violent, blame whatever it is that is making him so angry that he uses violence as a solution.

The argument this photo makes is that even though war is a conflict between adults, kids are left to suffer as a result of it. I say this because in the picture there are only 4 adults, and three of them look like they belong to the armed forces. The main focus is on the children. Another thing to note is that you can't really see the faces on any of the adults, except for the woman standing in the background. When most people think of war, they fail to realize that that soldier may be someone's dad or someones big brother.
Theres a few things the photographer utilizes to make his argument here. First off is the camera angle. It looks as though it was taken from above the base of the coffin or close to it as the coffin is barely in the picture and the entire focus is on the three children in the middle. Its also taken from a low angle. In doing so, you are not looking down on the children, but rather looking straight at them.
If I was to construct an argument using this picture I would say that fighting the Iraq war is a frivolous cause. Looking at it from an adults perspective its easy to say "Oh we're investing billions of dollars into a lost cause" but the greater question is who is really being effected here. The cost we pay out of pocket is almost irrelevant when compared to the losses families have to deal with when a father or a husband is lost. When you look at the kids, they are all wearing uniforms themselves. It's almost as if, from the loss of their father, they were forced into the armed forces themselves as a way of becoming "the man of the house".
If I was to come up with a title it would be "Children's View on the Iraq War". I feel like this title refers to the general concept of the photo while still sending a strong message. This title uses pathos as it relates emotion to the subject.

Health care is a major issue in this country. Over 40 million people do not have health care in this country, including mothers and their children. Every year children are given minimum treatment from hospitals because the hospital has no way of collecting funds from these patients. This issue comes up every four years as politicians rally to increase or decrease health care.
I personally think public health care funding should definitely be increased. Many people would argue that it is a dog eat dog world. The general public should not have to spend their tax dollars paying for people to visit hospitals when they should earn enough income to pay for things like that on their own. Unfortunately not everyone has control of how much income their family makes. When parents do not have health care if often translates into their children not having health care. Does that mean an eight year old should have to go out and get a job so that when he or she gets sick he can afford to see a doctor or pay for prescriptions? Granted health care should not just be given out to everyone, but I do feel as though the government has an obligation to look out for the general benefit of the younger generations.
Another argument against increasing funding for health care is that it would be too expensive. To give free health care to millions of individuals would probably run the government, I would assume, a few billion dollars. That is a lot of money. On the flip side this investment would be relatively a small price to pay. Increased health care would create more jobs as Health care providers would have to increase their staffs. Individual productivity might also go up as people would have greater access to medicine and therefore would be required to take fewer sick days. Also healthier people are able to work harder on the margin and therefore the national productivity on the whole would go up.
The question then becomes who should receive free health care? Should health care be free for some people and cost others or should the general price of health care go down for everyone?
Should adults be included in this. Personally the solution that makes the most sense is to give health care for those who cant afford it and continue charging for the people who can. If I need health care I'm not gonna stop buying it just because someone else is getting it for free. Health care is a product that's demand is very inelastic, meaning people are going to demand just as much of it whether the price changes or not. The people who can not afford health care pay a far greater price with their own health than the cost of the receiving the health care itself.
On the statue of liberty it says "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses...Send these, the homeless...to me." Yet when these people get here, their not taken care of. they remain the sick and tired, and the poor, and health care plays a major part in this.

I feel cheated after hearing this video. I do not feel cheated because I myself want to use steroids, but because I feel like the government and sports officials have lied to everyone as to what the side effects are of steroids. This video fails to address the concept of steroid rage. I dont know how real steroid rage really is but they say it was what caused Chris Bennoit to kill his family and himself. I definitely think steroids can be used responsibly. I know plenty of people that use other legal supplements and even they dont use them all the time. They use them for a while to increase their capability and then stay at that capability for a while before using the supplements again. these supplements include creatine and NOS.
I definitely feel as though the competitiveness of sports changes the need for steroids as opposed to the guy who casually takes them. If I am taking steroids just to increase my lift and look better, I am only doing it for myself, and do not necessarily have to one up the next guy. In the world of sports there is no second best. In the case of football players the guy who takes the most steroids becomes the biggest and fastest, only causing other athletes to increase their consumption. With this being said people would not be able to cycle off of them, but be forced to take them constantly. The reason that the effects of steroids in sports is so noticeable now is because the few people who take steroids have an advantage. If every player was allowed to take steroids they would still all be on the same level.
I feel like there should be equal standards for both pro and high school and collegiate levels. Unfortunately in the high school and even collegiate levels there just isnt quite the funding available to be able to test people for steroid use.

Im really concerned with...
Players getting caught for drunk driving. Throughout the history of the NFL drunk driving has never been such a major issue. But this year it seems as though every week another few players are arrested for this crime. Its stupid. NFL players get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a week and cant afford to take a cab home. Also owners invest millions of dollars anually into players and it would be stupid for a player to get hurt in an alcohol related accident.
Another issue presented with drunk driving is that kids look up to these players. All throughout highschool young kids are taught that driving while drunk is bad yet every day we hear about our idols getting arrested for doing a crime we are taught not to do. It sets a horrible example for kids who follow the game as well as tarnishing the image kids have for the players themselves.
The last reason this is a big issue is because getting caught for drinking and driving results in disciplinary action, namely suspensions. Fans of the NFL want to see the best athletes eligible to play on Sundays, and by having to suspend players for their misconduct, fans do not get to enjoy watching the best product available, and that hurts the outlook of the league.
A solution to this problem would be to have nfl players have a number they can call to get a driver to pick them up. I feel like a lot of nfl players make the decision to drive home because they show up to the club in their fancy cars and as a sign of status they walk out of the club and have the valet guy show up with that car. If every owner bought a few nice cars and started a service for their own players it would minimize the number of players who would get caught for a stupid crime and maintain the integrity of the league and players.

The argument being presented in this blog is that over the course of time people have become more and more conscious of how their bodies look. The main focus of attention for most men is the muscularity of the male physique. To test what may be a factor in this new fascination with the perfect body, researchers wanted to see if there was any correlation with the size and physiques of action figures commonly played with by children. After the research was done it was clear to see that every action figure that has withstood the test of time and is still in production has become taller and also has much more defined muscles. I personally don't think the only reason they are more muscular is because it is stereotypical, but also because new technologies allow for them to be more muscular. Twenty years back machines weren't able to do complex design in small things. Now machines can make the most minute detail with the push of a button.
This article is very monotone. It's good because unlike a direct argument, it is research based. There is a lot of pathos involved because everyone can relate to action figures as everyone played with them when they were young. There is also a lot of logos in that the exact measurements are given for every action figure as well as pictures and things like that.

You look at the pics and see that the action figures of the 80's didn't have abs or muscles at all. In fact most of them had armor on.
